Electronic mail support:

The Postmaster manages the FirstClass conferencing system and registers all new "sunyopt" electronic mail accounts (postmaster@sunyopt.edu). The Postmaster holds regular FirstClass training sessions and answers user questions. Please contact the Postmaster with any questions concerning the status of your FirstClass account or to obtain an account, and also to sign up for the next scheduled course (x5731).

Users are expected to adhere to the College's E-Mail Etiquette Guidelines and Public Access Computing and Electronic Mail Policy.

Internet and Network access:

Public access terminals providing Internet access are available for use by members of the College community in the Library Techno-Center and in the computer Labs. Please send inquiries regarding network connections to extension 5721 (or via email: jvillon@sunyopt.edu).

Computer support:
Supported Computer Products

Information Technology staff are available for consultation and support using PC software and hardware. Please send requests for assistance to the Help Desk (x5716) or via email at: helpdesk@sunyopt.edu, or by sending in a work order via Interoffice mail. Include the following information: name, department, phone number, room number, and a brief description of the problem. Work orders will be scheduled as soon as possible depending on existing workload.

Contact Mr. Bret Boudi or Mr. Ruben Cuevas in the Media Center for assistance in using Powerpoint software, or to reserve the LCD presentation systems for classroom use (212-938-5725). Library staff also are available to provide assistance in the use of various software programs during the hours 9 AM to 5 PM, as staffing levels permit.

Web page development:

Development of the SUNY College of Optometry Home Page is currently coordinated by Ms. Yue Wang in conjunction with Ms. Kadri Niider (Library sections). The operating philosophy of development is a centralized responsibility for writing and updating the web pages pertaining to various units throughout the College. Material is subject to review by the appropriate administrative officers for content. All pages must adhere to the College Web Policy . Individuals and representatives of departments and other college units should contact Mr. Robert Pellot for submission guidelines or for further information.
