Elaine Wells came to SUNY Optometry in 1997 after completing a Master’s of Library Science Degree at Rutgers University. Ms. Wells, who also serves as reference librarian and assists with the information and research needs of faculty, staff, and students, oversees the fiscal and programmatic administration of the Library. She also serves as Chair of the Committee on Learning Resources, Chair of the Committee on Health, Safety, and Energy Conservation, and is currently Chair of the Committee on Professional Qualifications, as well as being an ex-officio member of the Curriculum Committee. She is a Distinguished Member of the Academy of Health Information Professionals of the Medical Library Association
Prior to receiving her Library Science degree, Ms. Wells served as Director of HANDI (Hemophilia and AIDS/HIV Network for the Dissemination of Information), the information center of the National Hemophilia Foundation. She also worked in the hospital library of the Helene Fuld Medical Center and the academic library of Saint Peter’s College. Ms. Wells holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in French language and literature from Montclair State University.
