Dr. Ida Chung is an Associate Professor at the SUNY College of Optometry and Chief of the Pediatrics Unit at the University Eye Center. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Cornell University, and her Doctor of Optometry from the SUNY College of Optometry in 1993. She completed her residency training in the area of Pediatrics and Binocular Vision at the Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. Dr. Chung is a certified fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

She has published and lectured on topics related to children’s eye and vision care, including myopia, ocular therapeutics, vision screenings, and accommodation. She has conducting research in the areas of hyperopia, vision screenings and convergencein sufficiency.

Dr. Chung frequently serves as a vision consultant for non-profit groups, New York City public schools, and Head Start programs. She currently holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA), is a past appointed Vice-President for Student Affairs for the NYSOA, and past East Regional Director for the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
