Program Description
The Optometry Clinic at the US Naval Academy supports midshipmen, active duty, retirees and dependent family members.  Students will provide full scope optometric care to include routine dilated eye examinations, contact lens evaluations, pre- and post-operative refractive surgery care and emergency patient care.  The diverse patient population ranges from pediatric to geriatric and provides exposure to anterior and posterior segment ocular diseases, binocular vision disorders and contact lens related issues.  Externs will gain experience in treating acute conditions during daily sick call hours.  Equipment such as corneal topography, A/B scan, HRT, OCT, anterior/posterior segment cameras and automated perimeter assist in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases.

The Naval Medical Clinic is a multidisciplinary outpatient primary care facility located on the campus of the United States Naval Academy.  The student may interact with physicians, nurses, PAs, other credentialed specialists, corpsmen and a wide variety of technicians and other professionals.

The Naval Academy is nestled in the center of historic downtown Annapolis on the Chesapeake Bay.  Annapolis is a fun college town as well as the capital of the state of Maryland.   Annapolis has a rich maritime heritage and also many spectacular parks, museums and historic sites, cultural events, performing arts, specialty shops and great restaurants.
