College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD)
What is COVD?
The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) is a non-profit, international membership association of eye care professionals including optometrists, optometry students, and vision therapists. Established in 1971, COVD provides board certification for eye doctors and vision therapists who are prepared to offer state-of-the-art services in:
- Behavioral and developmental vision care
- Vision therapy
- Visual rehabilitation
These specialized vision care services develop and enhance visual abilities and correct many vision problems in infants, children, and adults.
At SUNY College of Optometry, COVD hosts various student meetings with guest speakers ranging from OD's highly experienced in vision therapy, vision rehabiliatation and head trauma, VT residents and private practice OD's in the NYC area.
How to Become a Member
You can visit the National COVD and download the student membership form OR feel free to let any of the liaisons that you are interested and they can give you an application as well. By the way, it's free for students!
