Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, is one of the largest clubs at SUNY College of Optometry with 104 members. Locally, SVOSH participates in a program NYSEE 20/20, where student volunteers provide monthly vision screenings at a homeless shelter in the Lower East Side and help patients seek further care at the University Eye Center. In addition, the SUNY SVOSH chapter along with many SUNY doctors and alumni has been fortunate to participate in several trips during this past year, including national trips to Tennessee and Virginia, as well as international trips to Rwanda, Peru and Cameroon. Furthermore, a trip to Panama and Peru are in the works for 2014.
As SUNY SVOSH gets ready for another eventful year, we strive to increase our fundraising efforts. All donations go directly to sponsoring airfare and accommodations for students going on the trips. Thank you for supporting SUNY SVOSH.
