New York City – The president of SUNY Optometry, Dr. Alden N. Haffner, founding president of the college, today has announced that he will retire effective December 31, 2005, after a long and distinguished career.

Dr. John B. Clark will continue his role as officer in charge of the campus.  Clark previously served as interim president of SUNY Brockport and SUNY Plattsburgh.

Telephone Number Changes

Verizon has notified the College that they will be proceeding with the change of the College’s telephone numbers.  You need the following information in preparation for this event.

As of 7:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2005, the new main number for the College will be (212) 938-4000 (it is currently 780-4900).  Extensions will follow the same format: (212) 938-xxxx.

The cutover will begin on Friday, September 30th and be completed by Monday, October 3rd.  There will be some wrap-up and trouble-shooting activity on October 3rd, but that activity should be minimally disruptive.

Linked below is a roster of “old” and “new” phone number extensions.  The old numbers are listed in ascending order and have the new numbers listed directly next to them.  Find the old number and to its right is the new number. *
Download Old & New Phone Directory (PDF)

For a period of several months, anyone calling the old number following the cutover will be forwarded to the new main number, (212) 938-4000, where they will be connected to the voice mail system.

You will be kept informed about the progress of this project as appropriate.

Thank you for your cooperation in making this very necessary change a success.
