Doctoral Candidate Receives Ezell Award
Zan Pan, a Ph.D.candidate at SUNY Optometry, is the recipient of the prestigious William C. Ezell Fellowship awarded by the American Optometric Foundation. This is the second year Dr Pan has received the $8,000 grant. His research and training is being done in the laboratory of Dr. Peter Reinach, a Distinguished Teaching Professor at SUNY, College of Optometry.
According Dr. Jerry Feldman, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, the fellowships are for one year. Each student also receives travel grants to the annual meetings of the American Academy of Optometry and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Since 1947, only 200 Ezell fellowships have been awarded.
Dr. Pan's current research examines the causes of dry eye syndrome. A graduate of Wenzhou Medical College in China, where he received an M.D. degree, Dr. Pan has published numerous articles in professional journals.
