SUNY Optometry welcomes its 46th class, the Class of 2021, to the College community. This class and its key indicators are among the top in the nation.

The Class of 2021 began its SUNY Optometry experience with a three-day orientation beginning Monday, August 14. Session topics included academic transitions, student involvement and engagement, and clinical responsibilities to provide the new students with tools to succeed as they matriculate at the College. Student leaders from the Class of 2020 also produced a fundraising happy hour, pizza and movie night, and game night at Dave & Busters.

Guest speakers and alumni were invited to meet and prepare the new students for their four years at at the College, including Dr. Denise Whittam, ’91, president of the College’s alumni association; Dr. Ken Sorkin, ’92, president of the New York State Optometric Association; Dr. Andrea Thau, ’84, immediate past president of the American Optometric Association; and Dr. Nick Despotidis, ’86.

The College community looks forward to meeting and working with the Class of 2021.
