Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

The basic disclosure document required by OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard is the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), which provides a uniform outline of the potential hazardous effects and the physical and chemical characteristics of each hazardous chemical, along with information about special precautions and controls necessary for use of the chemical.

It is the responsibility of each person purchasing chemicals to ensure that a current MSDS is obtained from the manufacturer/vendor and kept on file for each hazardous chemical used in their work area. MSDS must be made readily accessible to all members of the college community and may be obtained from the EHS Office in room 3M06A between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm and or anytime from the UPD 43rd St Desk.

MSDSs are also available electronically.
