Clinical Faculty Positions
The SUNY College of Optometry seeks to develop a vibrant intellectual community of clinicians, teachers and researchers who work together on educational and clinical research collaborations in a patient care setting. The college is currently recruiting for full time clinical faculty positions within the University Eye Center (UEC), the clinical care facility of the College. These positions will be in primary care, contact lenses, pediatrics and clinical research. Each position may also include significant administrative and leadership responsibilities. The anticipated start date is either January or June of 2014.
The primary responsibilities of clinical faculty involve a combination of teaching, patient care and participation in clinical research. The candidate will be expected to be engaged in creative scholarly activities (e.g. presentation of papers and lectures, innovation in clinical care or professional practice, participation in clinical trials, etc.) As our clinics have an intellectual mission within the College’s overall academic program, the candidates should have excellent clinical and teaching skills along with demonstrated leadership abilities and scholarly engagement. Administrative responsibilities may include working with the selected clinical service chiefs to provide strategic leadership in the areas of pediatrics and contact lenses.
The position requires a Doctor of Optometry degree with full scope licensure in New York State. An advanced degree and/or residency training is required. Five years of experience in clinical practice is preferred. Salary is commensurate with education, training and proficiency.
Applicants should provide a CV, a statement of career goals and interests, any representative publications and the names and contact information of three references.
