Faculty Position: Pediatrics

The SUNY College of Optometry is currently recruiting for a leadership clinical faculty position in Pediatrics. The position will consist of both clinical and academic responsibilities. Clinically, the candidate will be considered for the Assistant Chief/Section Chief of the Pediatrics section. The Pediatrics section is a component of the Primary Care Service of the University Eye Center (UEC), the clinical care facility of the College. Academic responsibilities include clinical and didactic teaching in the professional program, and an expectation of scholarship and participation in clinical research. The anticipated start date is July 2014.

The individual selected for the Assistant Chief/Section Chief of Pediatrics will work under the Chief of Primary Care to provide strategic leadership for the Pediatric unit, a focused clinical care unit of the UEC. The position will assure the highest standards of patient care and an excellence patient experience. The selected individual will take part in faculty development, service communication, schedule coordination and community outreach. Collaboration with other clinical services and the academic and research programs within the college is essential.

The SUNY College of Optometry, together with the University Eye Center, seeks to develop a vibrant intellectual community of clinicians, teachers and researchers who work together on educational and clinical research collaborations. The successful candidate will have a record of educational and scholarly activity in pediatric optometry and visual system development.

The successful applicant will be an OD with residency training in pediatrics or an MS or PhD, in a related area, with a desire to develop clinical and didactic teaching skills and scholarship. The position requires a Doctor of Optometry degree with full scope licensure in New York State. Salary is commensurate with education, training and experience.
