Institutional Research and Planning

The Office of Institutional Research and Planning supports institutional decision-making and planning through the collection and analysis of data.

Specific Activities

  • Producing Factbook, a compendium of College key indicators
  • Overseeing the reporting of data to external agencies
  • Serving as the College liaison to regional and professional accrediting bodies
  • Overseeing institutional accreditation processes
  • Facilitating the strategic planning process
  • Monitoring the implementation of the College’s strategic plan
  • Facilitating the administration of alumni, faculty and student surveys
  • Conducting and overseeing ad hoc studies that use data to inform issues of institutional importance

Committee Charge

Purpose

The Institutional Research and Planning Committee will provide support and counsel to the President and the Director of Institutional Research and Planning on assessment design, implementation and analysis relative to the College’s strategic priorities. The Committee will also assist in the development of institutional budgets and the allocation of resources in alignment with the College’s Strategic Plan.

Specific Responsibilities

The Committee:

  • Will assist in the design of an institutional assessment program linked to the College’s Strategic Plan 

  • Will review institutional outcomes data and advise the administration on action steps to achieve the College’s strategic goals 

  • Will recommend methods for communicating the results of institutional research and outcomes assessment to the broader College community 

  • Will actively consult with the College administration on budget preparation and the allocation of resources in support of the College’s strategic priorities

Membership

The Committee will be broadly representative, consisting of 9 members in addition to the Director of Institutional Research and Planning. All members should have an active interest in and dedication to the concept of institutional assessment and planning.

  • The Committee will be staffed and chaired by the Director of Institutional Research and Planning 
  • 5 members will be faculty:
    • 3 members will be faculty, with 1 nominated by each of 3 academic departments 
    • 1 will be a faculty member nominated by the Research Council 
    • 1 will be a faculty member nominated by the Clinic Council 
  • 1 Student member nominated by the Student Council (the student must be in good academic standing). 
  • 3 members of the college’s staff as appointed by the President.
  • All nominations will be subject to review and appointment by the president
  • All appointments are for 1-year terms

Decision-Making

The Committee is advisory in nature and will make recommendations on a consensus basis.
