Important Dates and Deadlines for the Optometry (O.D.) Program

  • The next SUNY Optometry OPEN HOUSE will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010. To register to attend, please respond to admissions@sunyopt.edu with your name, number of guests (maximum of 2) no later than Tuesday, January 5th.

  • The deadlines for receiving application for the class entering in August, 2010:
    • EARLY DECISION applications for the class entering in August, 2010 must be submitted between May 1 and July 1, 2009, by doing so ONLY by down loading the PAPER application on the College's website at http://www.sunyopt.edu/admissions/od_app.shtml
      (OATs written after August 30, 2009 will not be accepted for Early Decsion)

    • ROLLING ADMISSIONS applications for the class entering in August, 2010 may be entered on-line beginning July 15, 2009, but no later than March 1, 2010, by doing so ONLY on the Common Application found at www.optomcas.org
      ( OATs written after February 28, 2010 will not be accepted)

    Since SUNY is on "Rolling Admissions", early applications and OATs are advised

  • Representatives from SUNY are available to speak to Pre-Optometry and Pre-Health/Med. Clubs on Campuses. To arrange for a representative to speak please contact Dr. Johnston, V.P. for Student Affairs, at 800-291-3937 or admissions@sunyopt.edu

Important Dates and Deadlines for The Graduate Program in Vision Science

  • If you are considering the Graduate Program in Vision Science, feel free to e-mail jfeldman@sunyopt.edu or call the Office of the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at 212.938.5540.
  • Applications for the Graduate Program in Vision Science are accepted up to March 1 for entry into the graduate program for the following Fall semester.  You may apply online at:   http://www.sunyopt.edu/admissions/grad_app.shtml.

Early applications and GREs are advised

  • Students applying for the O.D./Ph.D. or the O.D./M.S. program must first be accepted into the Optometry Program before being considered for the Graduate Program.  They are encouraged to apply for the Fall semester, but may also be accepted during the Summer semester.
