Accommodative Infacility

Accommodative infacility is an inability to quickly adjust focus when looking from near to far, far to near, or both. It is often noticed when looking up after a long period of reading or computer work and finding it difficult to focus on objects across the room. Eye strain, copying problems, and headaches are other symptoms. Some researchers feel this condition, if untreated, can lead to the development of nearsightedness. Treatment consists of vision therapy followed by reading glasses to reduce visual stress.
