Chief, Pediatrics Service

Dr. Ida Chung is an Associate Professor and Chief of the Pediatrics Service. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Cornell University, and her Doctor of Optometry from the SUNY College of Optometry in 1993. Dr. Chung completed her residency training in the area of Pediatrics and Binocular Vision at the Eye Institute of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Chung is a certified fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

Dr. Chung has published and lectured on topics related to children’s eye and vision care, including myopia, ocular therapeutics, vision screenings, and accommodation. She is currently conducting research in the areas of hyperopia and convergence insufficiency.

Dr. Chung frequently serves as a vision consultant for non-profit groups, New York City public schools, and Head Start programs. She currently holds the positions of appointed Vice-President for Student Affairs for the New York State Optometric Association, and East Regional Director for the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.
