Laser Eye Institute
Every year, the Laser Eye Institute at University Optometric Center helps hundreds of New Yorkers dramatically improve their vision. Bringing together Doctors of Optometry, Ophthalmologists and state-of-the-art technology made possible by a generous gift from Bausch & Lomb, we evaluate, educate and assess the suitability of our patients for laser vision correction.
Only your eye doctor can determine if laser surgery is right for you, based on appropriate diagnostic tests and medical history, but you may be a good candidate if you:
- Have had stable vision for the past year.
- Have healthy eyes, good general health, and are not taking medication that affects the healing process.
- Are age 21 or over.
- Feel glasses/contact lenses are a nuisance.
- Are myopic (nearsighted) or have astigmatism
And now, with the Bausch & Lomb's incredibly sophisticated Zyoptix system, we can advance your vision to a new level of precision and clarity. In fact, in a clinical study 91.5% of subjects achieved 20/20 or better vision. Zyoptix provides the most comprehensive analysis possible, allowing us to plan a laser vision correction procedure that is customized to the exact topography of your eye. It even has the ability to correct eye imperfections that could not be treated with conventional LASIK techniques.
