Preschool Vision Therapy Clinic
One in four school-age children are affected by vision disorders. While many of these patients have correctible refractive errors (myopia, hyperopia and/or astigmatism), some have additional problems in the functioning of the visual system that are most appropriately treated with optometric vision therapy.
Optometric vision therapy is effective for treating developmental, acquired and certain congenital visual dysfunctions. University Optometric Center's Vision Therapy Service and Preschool Vision Therapy Clinic can help children with such functional vision disorders as:
- Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)
- Strabismus (Crossed or Wandering Eye)
- Binocular (Eye Teaming) Disorders
- Accommodative (Eye Focusing) Disorders
- Oculomotor (Eye Movement) Dysfunction
- Visual-Perceptual Dysfunction
Our team develops treatment plans that may include the use of lenses, prisms and patching and other therapies. Because each plan is individualized, the procedures used and the duration of therapy are dependent upon the nature and severity of the problem being treated and the specific needs of the patient.
Appointments are available Monday through Friday to facilitate timely examinations and appropriate follow-up care. Therapy programs are scheduled after school and early evenings on Monday through Thursday, as well as Saturdays. Call (212) 938-4003.
