Flashback: Dining in the Dark for World Sight Day

November 1, 2018

SUNY Optometry’s student chapter of the American Public Health Association presented its second Dining in the Dark Experience in honor of World Sight Day on Thursday, October 18. The annual event raises awareness of low vision and preventable blindness by serving dinner in dim illumination with blindfolds to enhance attendees other senses and reveal what is lost and gained without sight. This year’s guest speaker, Dr. Jordan Kassalow, launched the Global Health Policy Program at the Council on Foreign Relations and has received Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity’s Humanitarian of the Year Award.
