Why we are doing this study:
SmartVision is a handheld device which measures your glasses prescription. The goal of the study is to evaluate the accuracy and repeatability of the SmartVision compared to two other devices.
Who can be in the study:
Children ages 5 to 16 years in good general and eye health are eligible to participate in this study.
What the study involves:
There is only one visit that should take about 2 hours. During the visit we will:
Other things you should know about the study:
- Each set of measurements will be taken both before and after the instillation of dilating drops.
- The dilating drops can make the subject’s vision blurry and sensitive to light for up to 4-6 hours.
- Participants will be paid $100 for their participation in the study (one visit).
- Up to 10 participants will be asked if they would be willing to return for a repeat evaluation approximately one week later to assess repeatability of the instrument. An additional $100 will be paid for this second visit.
