Bio

Dr. Diane Adamczyk is a Professor and the Director of Residency Education at SUNY, College of Optometry. She received her bachelor of science degree in biology from Villanova University. She received her optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and completed her residency at the Newington Veterans Administration Hospital. She has been at SUNY since 1986 and has been a private practice consultant for 20 years. At SUNY, her prior administrative roles have included being Chief of the Primary Care Service and Director of Externships. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Dr. Adamczyk is the instructor of record for the ocular pharmacology course. She also sees patients and supervises students in the University Eye Center. Dr. Adamczyk lectures nationally and internationally and has written articles, chapters and coauthored the textbook, Primary EyeCare in Systemic Disease.
Dr. Adamczyk is actively involved in the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education, as both a member of the Residency Subcommittee and site team chair for numerous residency accreditation visits. Dr. Adamczyk was chair of the Evidence Based Optometry Committee, which oversees optometry’s clinical guidelines, including Diabetes Mellitus, the Adult Eye Exam, and the Pediatric Eye Exam. Dr. Adamczyk has received a number of recognitions, including the American Optometric Association President’s Award, Presidential Medal of Honor-Pennsylvania College of Optometry Recipient and the Albert Fitch Memorial Alumna of the Year of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
