Robert Chun

Bio

Dr. Rob Chun graduated magna cum laude with an undergraduate degree in engineering and mathematics from Vanderbilt University. He received both his doctor of optometry and residency training from the Illinois College of Optometry. Thereafter, he completed a research fellowship at the Pangere Center for Inherited Retinal Diseases. Before SUNY, he was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he was heavily involved in curriculum development for residents and fellows as Division Education Champion for Low Vision. Given his unique expertise in rare forms of genetic eye disease and vision impairment classification, he has been invited to complete more than 20 international trips to evaluate visually impaired athletes for the International Paralympic Committee and the International Blind Sports Federation. He also advises the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee on sports classification procedures for proper assessment of vision impairment. He remains active in the American Academy of Optometry as a Fellow and speaker.
