Good-Lite Pediatric Award for Excellence in Pediatric Optometry

What does receiving this award or scholarship mean to you?
Receiving this award means that my passion for pediatric optometry and the work I put into caring for every patient was recognized. I am honored to be recognized and deeply thankful to all of the amazing doctors who saw my passion and encouraged me to continue improving and learning.

What drew you to the field of optometry?
My first peek into the world of optometry was through my childhood optometrist, Violetta Ushyarov-Satanovsky. My world changed with my first pair of glasses and I fell in love with the idea that there was a profession that could change the way you see. As my interest in the field grew, I began to shadow other optometrists. I realized that I was drawn to the trust and respect that is built between an optometrist and their patient. I look forward to being able to build these relationships with my future patients.

What are your plans following graduation?
I am looking forward to exploring what optometry has to offer in private practice. My long term goal is to open my own practice. I hope to spend the next several years learning from doctors who have gone down that path themselves.
