Dr. Stanley Eisenberg Memorial Award for Excellence in Practice Development and Administration
What does receiving this award or scholarship mean to you?
Practice development has been a passion of mine before I even started optometry school. Considering a patient's experience from the moment they walk into a clinic to the moment they walk out with dilated eyes, a new script, and answers to their questions was always important to me when I thought about how patients relied on their doctor for their health concerns. Through my time at SUNY, president of Private Practice Club, a member of the SOLN e-board, and working at a private practice, I've always been thinking about clinic management in the background of my studying and practicing skills. I am so thankful and honored to receive this award and look forward to a future where I can explore this passion further.
What drew you to the field of optometry?
My mom has been wearing speciality contact lenses for as long as I can remember and I joined her when I was eleven. I spent years in and out of the optometrist office growing up and then I was a technician for the same optometrist when I was nineteen and starting to explore the field. The moment I helped somebody put on a scleral contact lens and they looked at me and cried was when I decided optometry was my dream career.
What are your plans following graduation?
I plan to work in private practice.
