What does receiving this award or scholarship mean to you?
Receiving these awards is a tremendous honor and deeply meaningful to me. Being recognized not only for my academic efforts but also for the care I provide to patients reinforces my commitment to becoming a compassionate, skilled, and innovative optometrist. It also reminds me of the incredible mentors, peers, and patients who have shaped my journey and continue to inspire me to grow and give back to the profession.
What drew you to the field of optometry?
I was drawn to optometry because of its combination of science, healthcare, and building long-term patient relationships. During my education, I became especially fascinated by the impact of specialty contact lenses on patients with complex corneal conditions. The ability to dramatically improve someone’s vision and their quality of life is so rewarding. Optometry offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every day, and I knew early on that I wanted to be part of that.
What are your plans following graduation?
After graduation, I will be continuing my training through the Cornea and Contact Lens Residency at SUNY College of Optometry. I’m excited to further develop my expertise in fitting specialty contact lenses for patients with corneal disease, irregular astigmatism, and other complex visual needs.
