We are excited to invite you to join us for the SUNY Optometry Upstate Virtual Open House on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 6:00 PM EST.
During this special event, you will learn more about our new campus in Syracuse, launching in Fall 2027 (pending final MSCHE approval) on the Upstate Medical campus. We will share details about the academic program, including our hybrid model designed to maintain strong connectivity between the NYC and Syracuse campuses, as well as student life and the broader vision behind expanding SUNY Optometry beyond New York City.
You will also hear directly from current SUNY Optometry students about their experiences in NYC, including their involvement in piloting select remote learning elements that will be incorporated into the Upstate campus. Their perspective will offer valuable context for what students can expect as part of this innovative model.
We will conclude with practical guidance on building a strong application and an overview of next steps in the admissions process.

Every January, we host our Annual Open House in person and virtually to enable applicants and their families to learn more about SUNY Optometry. The event allows you to explore the profession by meeting faculty members, learn what it is like to be an optometry student by meeting and interacting with our current students, tour our campus and obtain tips in how to build a successful application.
