Bio

Dr. Mordachai Soroka is a Professor in the Department of Clinical Education at the State University of New York College of Optometry. His academic work has focused on public health, healthcare utilization, the optometric workforce, and the delivery of eye care services. His research has included studies examining the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of optometric patients, patterns of referrals for eye care, and broader issues affecting the optometric profession and healthcare workforce. He has also contributed to the education of optometry students in public health and the healthcare delivery system. Dr. Soroka was the Director of the Optometric Society of New York for 40 years, the past chair of the vision care section of the American Public Health Association, and authored 75 papers as well as a textbook on Vision Care and Managed Care. Dr. Soroka earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brooklyn College and his Master of Public Administration and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from New York University.
