Why we are doing this study:
This is a study for children age 7 to 11 years who have myopia (nearsightedness). We are trying to find out if new contact lens or glasses designs can help to reduce the progression of myopia in children.
Who can be in the study?
Children age 7 to 11 years who have no major health or eye problems. Specific screening questions will be asked before scheduling a study appointment.
What the study involves:
There are up to 13 visits over 3 years. During your visits, we will monitor the health of your child’s eyes and measure the amount of nearsightedness. We will also ask you to complete surveys and a diary about your use of the glasses or contact lenses. Children will be randomly assigned (like the flip of a coin) to wear either glasses or contact lenses.
Other things you should know about the study:
Principal Investigator: Kathryn Richdale, OD PhD
