NEW YORK, NY – The American Academy of Optometry and the American Academy of Optometry Foundation announced more than 40 recipients of the 2021 Student Travel Fellowship Grants, which provides $750 in funding for select students to attend the Academy 2021 meeting in Boston, November 3-6, 2021. Names of the awardees were released by the Academy on Friday, September 3.
Among this year’s grant winners representing optometry schools nationwide are four students from the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry. They include
- Julie Lin, Class of 2022, awarded the Beta Sigma Kappa (BSK) Student Travel Fellowship, a grant given to a third or fourth-year student and member of BSK.
- Ewa Kowalczyk, Class of 2023, earning the Elmer H. Eger Memorial Student Travel Fellowship presented to a third or fourth-year student whose professional goal is to be in private practice.
- Andrew Kageyama and Sanjana Saksena, both Class of 2022, receiving the Johnson & Johnson Vision Student Travel Fellowship awarded primarily for accomplishment or potential in clinical or research aspects of vision.
The SUNY Optometry classmates and fellow grant recipients will be honored at the Student and Resident Awards Lunch on Thursday, November 4, from noon to 1 p.m. during Academy 2021 Boston.
