New York, NY — SUNY College of Optometry was featured today on NBC’s TODAY Show in a consumer-focused segment examining eyewear quality, affordability and what patients should know when purchasing glasses.

The segment featured Marina Su, OD, FAAO, Vice President for Clinical Affairs and Executive Director of the University Eye Center at SUNY College of Optometry, who provided independent expert analysis and guidance for viewers. Watch the full TODAY Show segment here.

Dr. Su is an expert on eye health, eyewear quality, eye exams, consumer guidance for purchasing glasses and contact lenses, pediatric vision care, eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, low vision, specialty contact lenses, artificial intelligence, eye technology and other topics related to eye and vision care.

Bringing more than 17 years of experience in clinical practice, education and health care leadership, Dr. Su joined SUNY Optometry in 2026, where she leads the University Eye Center, one of the largest optometric outpatient facilities in the country, and has clinical expertise spanning ocular disease, pediatrics, low vision, co-management and specialty contact lenses.

Prior to joining SUNY Optometry, Dr. Su served as Chief Operating Officer, Director of Optometry and Residency Supervisor at Fromer Eye Centers, a multi-location, multi-specialty ophthalmology practice providing care to underserved communities across New York City and Westchester. In that role, she led clinical operations across five locations, implemented new technology and artificial intelligence tools to improve clinical efficiency and treat patients.

Dr. Su, who completed her residency at SUNY Optometry in 2013, is a past president of the New York State Optometric Association and serves on the American Optometric Association’s Leadership Development Committee. She is also a consultant to the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education and has helped develop programs focused on workforce diversity and the future pipeline of optometric educators and students.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, Dr. Su has been recognized with numerous professional honors, including Newsweek’s America’s Best Eye Doctors, the American Optometric Association President’s Award and the New York State Optometric Association Young OD of the Year Award.
