There’s more to eye care than meets the eye.
As a doctor of optometry, you’ll do more than help people see clearly. Comprehensive eye exams can reveal warning signs of more than 270 systemic and chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, and certain cancers. You’ll play a vital role in protecting patients’ vision and supporting their overall health.
SUNY Optometry alumni are leaders in clinical care, research, education, and professional organizations across the country. More than 20 alumni and faculty were recognized by Newsweek among America’s Best Eye Doctors.
The Career Development Center supports SUNY Optometry students, residents, and alumni at every stage of their professional journey. Through career counseling, resume and interview guidance, and signature programs such as the Family of Mentors Program and the Annual SUNY Optometry Career Symposium, the Center helps build the connections and skills needed for long-term career success.
