“It is with great sadness that SUNY College of Optometry learned of the passing of Dr. Max Gomez this past weekend. Dr. Gomez was an award-winning broadcast journalist, Dr. Gomez and a champion of optometry and vision science in the media for many years. His prominence as a respected medical reporter on WCBS brought scores of critical issues related to eye health and vision care to the attention of television audiences throughout the tri-state area. The College recognized his achievements and commitment to healthcare with a State University of New York Doctor of Humane Letters degree, honoris causa, in 2017. He also served as the emcee in 2019 for Eyes on New York.
