Diane Calderon-Villanueva

Bio

Dr. Diane Calderon is an Associate Clinical Professor at the SUNY College of Optometry and serves as Chief of Primary Care at the University Eye Center. Her clinical work focuses on comprehensive primary eye care, including the assessment of refractive status, binocular and accommodative function, and ocular and systemic health. As a clinical educator, she supervises optometry students and interns in the University Eye Center’s Primary Care Service. Prior to joining SUNY Optometry, she provided full-scope optometric care and worked alongside ophthalmologists in several areas of advanced eye care. Dr. Calderon is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, has served as a clinical examiner for the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, and also serves as a consultant for the Accreditation Council on Optometric Education. Dr. Calderon was selected to participate in the SUNY SAIL Institute’s Clinical Leadership Academy and received SUNY Optometry’s inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and subsequently completed a residency in Primary Care Optometry at the same institution.
