Dr. Barry Tannen was installed as president of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD) at the organizations 46th annual meeting in St. Louis.

In addition, Dr. Tannen received the A.M. Skeffington Award for excellence in optometric writing.


COVD AwardVision Development & Rehabilitation, the journal of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, has named VEP and Human Attention: Translation from Laboratory to Clinic its “Article of the Year” for the year 2015.  The paper was authored by Dr. Naveen K. Yadav, Dr. Kenneth J. Ciuffreda, Dr. Kevin T. Willeford, Dr. Preethi Thiagarajan and Ms. Diana P. Ludlam. The award was presented at the COVD  Annual Meeting on April 16.

Dr. Stewart Bloomfield will be speaking as part of a mini- symposium on May 4 at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Annual Meeting in Seattle. His talk is titled: Cell biology of gap junctions in the eye: Connexin signaling in health and disease
