Pursuing a career in optometry requires significant dedication, both academically and financially. To address this challenge, we aim to raise $25,000 to establish an endowed scholarship in honor of Dr. David Heath. The need is urgent so that we might announce this new scholarship at Commencement on May 23rd which will be Dr. Heath’s final ceremony.
Our goal is to encourage and recruit future students who will add to the character of their class and our campus community as well as demonstrate leadership and a passion for the future of optometry. Recipients will be those who show exceptional promise and commitment to the field, and who demonstrate the leadership necessary to provide excellent patient care, inspire their peers and move the profession forward.
This scholarship, initially known as the President’s Scholarship, will recognize the legacy and leadership Dr. Heath provided for the past seventeen years. Dr. Heath will be invited to award the inaugural scholarship in the fall.
Our goal is to reach $25,000 before May 23rd. Your donation, of any size, will move us toward that goal and empower talented individuals to pursue their dreams of becoming optometrists by helping to alleviate some of the financial strain in paying for optometry school. Investing in the education of future optometrists is an investment in the health and well-being of our communities. Together, we can make a significant impact on the lives of aspiring optometrists, our patients, and the future of eye care.

If the goal is not reached by May 23, the Foundation will determine if they continue to fundraise until the close of the fiscal year on June 30 or if the scholarship will be given out as a one-time only award in the fall.
