At SUNY College of Optometry, research drives innovation in vision science and patient care. Faculty, researchers, and students collaborate to advance the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of eye disease through basic, translational, and clinical research. Areas of expertise include myopia, glaucoma, retinal disease, ocular genetics, visual neuroscience, neuroprotection, eye growth and refractive error, and innovative clinical therapies. Research is supported through the Graduate Center for Vision Research and the Clinical Vision Research Center, where discoveries move from the laboratory to real-world patient care.
Together, these achievements reflect SUNY Optometry’s commitment to advancing scientific discovery, improving patient outcomes, and preparing the next generation of clinician-scientists.
