SUNY COLLEGE OF OPTOMETRY UNIVERSITY POLICE OFFICER HONORED WITH PROFESSIONAL SERVICE AWARD

New York, NY: SUNY College of Optometry Police Officer Rosemarie Agostinelli was recognized with a Professional Service Award at the annual New York State University Police Awards Ceremony earlier this month by the SUNY Police Chiefs Association. The University Police Awards are the highest recognition given by the SUNY Police Chiefs’ Association.

The annual awards honor lieutenants, officers, and staff for their heroic efforts and bravery on campus as well as their professionalism. Officer Agostinelli’s Professional Service Award, which recognizes members for acts that greatly enhance the operation of their respective University Police Departments, acknowledges her dedication and high level of professionalism in her role. “Officer Agostinelli’s leadership, reliability, and dedication are exemplary,” noted Chief Dapo Adurogbola, “She has taken on additional roles above and beyond her normal duties and serves as the field training officer for the division advancing the safety of the College community.”

Officer Agostinelli joined the SUNY Optometry University Police Department in 2020. Prior to joining SUNY, she previously worked as a Police Officer with the City of Rye Police

Department. Officer Agostinelli majored in Forensic Psychology at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice graduating Magna Cum Laude.

The mission of the New York State University Police at SUNY College of Optometry is to provide a safe and welcoming environment to students, staff, faculty, and visitors, and to support all members of the college community in their educational or professional pursuit at the college.
